Hi MyQueenstown, I am a Permanent Resident and moved into Stirling Road (Blk 160+). My children study in the nearby International school. I saw some cracks at my corridors, my kitchens and my toilets. I am afraid that the falling concrete will injure my young children.-Mr X who lives in 8th storey of Blk 160+ in Stirling Road

MyQueenstown's reply: Many flats in Stirling View and Tanglin Halt are over 40 years old and cases of falling concrete are not surprising although the authorities' lack of maintenance in the district can be an issue too. However, residents whose apartment flats have falling concrete ought to contact the authorities (HDB) by either dialing 1800-2255432 to Queensway Branch Office, email bgxadmin@hdb.gov.sg or visit the branch at Blk 46 Commonwealth Drive (next to Tanglin Halt Market Area; take Bus 61)
However, that's not all. Do visit your community leader to get subsidised payments for the reparation. Though we do not represent any leaders or any institutions, it will be unwise for any residents to spend unnecessary amount fixing the falling concrete on a dilapidated structure when you can get them at a subsidised or cheaper rate!
